Welcome! Thank you for visiting!
My husband, Marc, and I are a homeschooling family of five living on about 146 acres in the Pineywoods of East Texas. We bought this ranch from my grandparents and are thankful for the wonderful resources with which we have been blessed. Marc has a M.S. in Agriculture and teaches at Trinity Valley Community College then tends his Charolais herd in his spare time. I have a B.S. in Animal Science and a M.Ed. in Math Education and work from home while homeschooling our children. I am also furthering my education as a natural health educator by studying herbs, essential oils, and nutrition.
Occasionally we will offer Charolais cattle, Nubian and Nubian/Boer cross dairy goats, Gypsy Cob draft horses, Jack Russell Terriers, and Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs for sale. Utilizing selective breeding over the years, we have enjoyed raising animals to meet their full potential. On our farm, we also have geese, ducks, chickens, and horses. We make soap with the goat’s milk and use compost from the livestock in our garden. The girls and I have experimented with herbs and essential oils to formulate salves, creams, and healthy teas.
I would like to point out in no way do I claim to be an expert. I look at myself as God’s obedient servant. (At least that is what I pray for on a daily basis as I do tend to be a little blind at times.) As a matter of fact, that obedience led to the creation of this website. I obeyed when the Lord leaned on me to homeschool, learn more about natural alternatives for internal and external use, put gardening and other homesteading skills into practice, and now in publishing this website. So, my plans are to share what I have learned with you in hopes it will help you along your journey. I also have some of my favorite resources available here for your perusal. School is never out for the pro. As Mark Twain said, “You should never allow schooling to interfere with your education.” Biblically, we should always be learning and willing to educate ourselves.
So, grab a cup of coffee, or tea, and have a look around. (I am known for my coffee and long philosophical discussions.) I appreciate your comments, suggestions, or questions. Let me know what you think. You can use the Contact link to do so. With this form, you can also indicate you would like to be notified of any updates to this website and future enrollment into the natural living classes mentioned above. I tend to share more on our corresponding Facebook page. So, be sure to visit us there as well!
In closing I would like to say one other thing. When I created this website, my mind was on studying old ways of schooling, farming, using herbs and sharing that with you. What I have found is that Old Ways Made New would also come to signify how on a daily basis, the LORD is renewing me in His ways. That is my prayer. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Blessings to you and yours,
